Bergen

The gateway to the fjords — Hanseatic wharf and seven mountains.

Trajet

Jet 50 min · road 7 h

Bergen, Norway's second city, is the gateway to the western fjords — reached most elegantly by private jet in fifty minutes (the road journey across the mountains takes seven hours). The UNESCO-listed Bryggen wharf, with its leaning Hanseatic merchant houses, anchors a harbour ringed by seven mountains. FFGR Norway coordinates the funicular ascent of Mount Fløyen, private boat departures to the Nærøyfjord and Hardangerfjord, dinner at Lysverket or Bare, and onward helicopter transfers to the Sognefjord lodges. Bergen is also the embarkation point for the Hurtigruten coastal voyage and for FFGR's curated fjord expeditions. Rain is frequent and forgiven — the city wears it as character.
