Kirkenes
The Russian-border outpost and king-crab waters.

Jet 2 h 30 · far northeast
Kirkenes, in Norway's far northeastern corner near the Russian and Finnish borders, is reached by FFGR Jets in two and a half hours from Oslo. It is the turning point of the Hurtigruten coastal voyage and a base for some of the Arctic's most distinctive experiences: king-crab safaris by snowmobile or RIB, the Snowhotel rebuilt each winter in ice, husky and reindeer expeditions, and aurora viewing in near-total darkness. FFGR Norway coordinates private king-crab feasts on the ice, glass-roofed Aurora cabin stays, and the deep-winter silence of the Barents region — a frontier few European travellers ever reach.
